Understanding Problem Gambling

Problem gambling is a serious but often hidden issue that can affect anyone, regardless of age, income, or background. It’s more than just financial trouble, it can impact relationships, mental health, and quality of life.

At the Oregon Council on Problem Gambling, we work to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and ensure people understand the signs, risks, and resources available to prevent and address gambling-related harm.

Supporting & Funding Gambling Research

We invest in research that deepens understanding of gambling behaviors, risk factors, and effective interventions. Through funding opportunities and partnerships, we support projects that inform policy, strengthen prevention and treatment systems, reflect lived experience, and advance innovative workforce training to better serve those affected by gambling harm.

Oregon Gambling Research Center

The Oregon Gambling Research Center (OGRC) is a program of the Oregon Council on Problem Gambling dedicated to advancing community-informed, policy-relevant research. We fund studies that examine gambling-related harm, the effectiveness of responsible gambling tools and strategies, and the unique needs of underserved populations—supporting evidence-based improvements in prevention, treatment, and public health systems across Oregon.

Supporting Healthier Communities Across Oregon

We bring together research, training, advocacy, and community partnerships to reduce gambling-related harm. Our work helps strengthen systems of care, inform responsive policies, and ensure that people most impacted have a voice in building a healthier, more equitable Oregon.
